A successful business rates appeal has helped to bring a highly-visible retail or office unit back into contention for 100% rates relief through the Small Business Bonus scheme.
The new valuation has led to a spike in interest for the 2,000-square-foot property at West Blackhall Street in Greenock.
Following an appeal, which was upheld by the Renfrewshire Valuation Joint Board, the previous rateable value of £16,000 will now fall to £10,400.
Companies qualify for small business bonus relief on their occupied properties if the combined rateable value of all properties in Scotland is liable is £35,000 or less and where the individual property has a rateable value of £18,000 or less.
As with this case, if the rateable value falls under £15,000, then 100% rates relief can be applied equating to no additional outlay for businesses.
Inverclyde Council administers non-domestic rates on behalf of the Scottish Government and must ensure reliefs are correctly applied.

"This is good news for both our client and potential tenants for what is a large and visible unit available to a wide variety of sectors."
