Excitement As Cabello by Laura Hughes Opens In Wemyss Bay

A new enterprise by a highly regarded hair technician is celebrating after opening its doors in Wemyss Bay.

Cabello by Laura Hughes officially opened its doors to the public on Sunday 4th September and is the creation of Greenock-based stylist, Laura Hughes.

With a large client list built up from previously working in salons across Inverclyde, the new unisex salon provides a range of hair services to the village and surrounding areas.

Based at the site of the former Coastal Hair on Shore Road, the premises were acquired by new owners earlier in 2022, with Cabello taking occupancy in July to get the unit ready.

Laura had been travelling to clients direct and mobile working, so the new unit enables the business the ability to lay down some roots.

The main road location has seen a high level of interest from locals, as well as securing new clients from McCaskies Butchers and Wemyss Bay Caravan Park amongst others.

Speaking of the new salon, Laura (pictured) said:

“It is fantastic to finally have my own salon after years of hard work to get to this point, and to have something of this calibre is a dream come true.

“My husband Andrew and my mum were the two people that have really pushed me to open up my own salon as they knew how much I’ve wanted to take this step.

“We’ve been at the salon most days together to get the place perfect for moving in, with Andrew doing all of the painting and joinery work which has been invaluable.

“Through a lot of dedication and effort, I’ve managed to build a loyal and supportive customer base, and I’m delighted to have somewhere I can call my own.”

Cabello is a beautiful and modern hair salon, with the ability to welcome up to 6 clients at a time in the new premises, which are located adjacent to Wemyss Bay Ferry Terminal.

Laura’s sister, Joanne Duffy - a fellow hair technician - has also joined the new salon and will be based within Cabello.

“I’m very excited to build up my business with my sister by my side, and it's great both Joanne (pictured below) and I can work together again after all these years” Laura continued.

“Moving the business to Wemyss Bay has been a great move and we’ve welcomed several new clients as well as our existing customers travelling to the new salon.

“We’ve had fantastic support from so many people including our friends and family, with a healthy level of bookings now secured for September and beyond.”

“I’d like to thank both my landlord and Bowman Rebecchi for all of their support in making this possible.”

The new tenancy represents the latest successful letting for Inverclyde property firm, Bowman Rebecchi as it continues to grow across the west coast of Scotland.

Andrew Bowman, Director of Bowman Rebecchi, said:

“Congratulations to Laura on the new salon and the finished unit is a stunning and welcome addition to the mix of existing businesses in Wemyss Bay.

“It was less than two weeks from the unit being acquired to the Laura taking occupancy, showcasing our ability to support all parties quickly.

“We would like to wish Cabello continued success and expect the business to have a promising future, with Wemyss Bay benefiting from the salon and unit being in use again.”

Cabello by Laura Hughes is located at 5b Shore Road in Wemyss Bay and is open Tuesday to Saturday from 9-6pm.
