Former Greenock Police Club Comes To The Market

Bowman Rebecchi is delighted to bring the historic Greenock Police Club at Thom Street in Greenock to the commercial market as a potential development opportunity or a long-term let.

Set across two levels and set within a peaceful surround, the former social club closed in March 2020 and was the world's oldest free-standing police club, formed in 1898. The building was bought in January 2021 and

Having been located at Thom Street since 1932, the subjects still have a live drinks licence and would be suitable for a range of alternative uses, including residential (subject to planning consent) with room for 6 x semi-detached or 2 x detached houses.

Internally, the subjects currently offer a mixture of function rooms and bar areas, which were used for private members as well as a first-floor billiards room. The front of the building overlooks Murdieston Dam with regeneration plans proposed here by Inverclyde Council.

To the rear of the building is an ample garden area that faces the HMP Greenock. The subjects are surrounding by privately-owned residential dwellings.

The subject property occupies a prominent corner position on the north side of Thom Street at its junction with Old Inverkip Road, 1.2m from Greenock town centre. On-street parking is available.

Drumfrochar Railway Station is a ten-minute walk away that provides regular train services to and from Glasgow Central Station, Wemyss Bay, and adjoining Gourock.

Bowman Rebecchi Director, Marco Rebecchi said:

"There is a wide range of opportunities available for investors, with the ability to retain the Police Club and bring back into operation or look at alternative uses for the land, including residential purposes given the surrounding dwellings.

"We expect this site will have significant interest given the rare opportunity and Bowman Rebecchi looks forward to supporting our clients and interested parties to a successful outcome."

Offers are invited for the purchase of our client's heritable interest in the property. Parties should register their interest in writing to Bowman Rebecchi by the closing date of 5pm on Friday 27th August 2021.
