Iconic Café Back In Business As Orangefield Bakery Opens In Greenock

An iconic Greenock Café is back in business and under new ownership as it looks to reignite its successes of the past.

Kilmacolm entrepreneur Stephen O’Donnell opened Orangefield Café and Bakery – formerly Dino’s – on 12 October 2020 following an exhaustive search locally for a new premise.

The much-loved Holmscroft Street café dates back to the 1920s, with previous operator Dino Pieri retiring in 2013.

A trained baker by trade, Stephen used to operate The Village Bakery in Kilmacolm, and will be in charge of the day-to-day running of the business.

Stephen has introduced his superb bakery menu with the café also serving breakfasts, paninis, soup, tea, coffee and cold drinks as well as providing traditional Italian ice cream.

Speaking of the new venture, Stephen said:

“We are delighted to finally open the bakery after spending the past few months for the right site to launch our menu.

“For it to be in the famous Orangefield Café is fantastic, and everything just felt right about the location and the opportunity with great footfall from locals, trades and school children.

“It’s an exciting fresh start for our family, and we would like to invite returning customers as well as welcome those new to come and savour our menu.

"We’d like to thank Bowman Rebecchi for their support with our search and to Dino for his help in getting the bakery ready to open.”

The tenancy is the latest successful letting for local commercial property services firm, Bowman Rebecchi, who acted as the agents on behalf of the owners.

Marco Rebecchi, Director of Bowman Rebecchi, said:

“We are delighted to have been able to support Stephen with his search over the past few months and wish him and his family every success.

“This was an excellent example of a site becoming available and Bowman Rebecchi knowing of someone searching for this type of use, so we managed to turn this around quickly for both parties.

“It is great to see this historic site coming back into use, and we continue to enjoy a high level of interest in commercial lettings and sales across Inverclyde.”

Orangefield Café and Bakery is located at 107 Holmscroft Street in Greenock. For more details, click here.
