Johnstone: The Black Cart To Be Converted Into A Gym And Cafe

Plans are in place to convert a former Johnstone pub into a gym and cafe.

The Black Cart, in the town’s High Street, had been in business for more than a century before it was put up for sale last year after closing its doors.

It has since been bought by Paisley-based developer Euan Donaldson, who has lodged conversion plans with Renfrewshire Council.

He claims the double development will attract more people into the town centre and help to regenerate the area.

Mr. Donaldson also said the gym would provide parking spaces for bikes, to encourage people to cycle there, while the cafe would also have a delicatessen and bakery.

He added: “The aim is to be different from any other offering within the town centre, with the aim of enhancing the locale.”

11 High Street is available to purchase via Bowman Rebecchi with details here.
