Coffee Shop And Hot Food Takeaway Plan Gets Go-Ahead

Planners have given permission for part of a vacant Greenock pub to be turned into a coffee shop and hot food takeaway.

M&R Properties applied to change the use of an area of the ground floor at the former Overdraft bar/Melrose Lounge on the corner of Old Inverkip Road and Inverkip Road, at Barr’s Cottage.

Officials have now approved the proposal which is part of an effort to bring the whole building back into use.

Drawings submitted to Inverclyde Council’s planning department show signage for Melrose Pizza and Pasta.

The takeaway opening hours are expected to be from 11am to 1am, seven days a week, and the coffee shop’s hours will be from 9am to 6pm, also seven days.

A new shopfront will be installed for the takeaway element of the premises. The coffee shop entrance will be at the side of the building.
